Charis is a working dancer, teacher, and choreographer who grew up in Westport, MA, training with En L'air School for Dance, Spindle City Ballet and Ballet RI. She was a member of Fusionworks II before attending Muhlenberg College, where she graduated with a B.S. in mathematics and dance in 2022, concentrating in choreography. While at Muhlenberg she had the opportunity to perform in works by Fredrick Earl Mosley, Heidi Cruz-Austin, and Monica Bill Barnes. She has choreographed several original works for the Muhlenberg stage and created a short film that was screened at the American College Dance Association's regional screendance festival. Since graduating, Charis has returned to New England and began teaching at both New Bedford Ballet and En L'air School for Dance. In 2024 she began performing with Providence Ballet Theatre. Most recently, she completed Kairos Dance Theater’s trainee program and performed with Ten31 Productions. She is a dynamic mover with a musical sensitivity and a love for exploring the edges of her own ability. This dynamic quality can also be seen in her choreographic work, which values movement quality over precision of form and allows performers to showcase their humanity. She has trained in a variety of dance styles, including ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz, and tap.
