Dawn (all pronouns) is a performance artist, researcher, and dance educator. They recently graduated from Scripps College completing their degrees in Dance and Psychology.
Dawn was born and raised on Massachusett, Pawtucket, and Naumkeag land, commonly referred to as Boston, MA. There she trained at Mass Motion Dance Boston, in a pre-professional company, COOco, and attended pre-professional programs at Joffrey Ballet School and Alvin Ailey. He first attended college in Washington DC where he danced with the American University Dance Company for two years and performed in multiple shows and galleries with Erin Foreman-Murray, Britta Joy-Petterson, and senior capstone productions. They then transferred to Scripps College where they performed in productions by Kevin Williamson, Suchi Branfman, Kyle Abraham, and many student-led choreographies. During college, Dawn studied improvisation, Laban movement analysis, Graham, release technique, contemporary styles, hip hop, Latin Hustle, kinesiology, and more. Dawn has shown their original work in In The Works 2022/2023/2024, Scripps Dances 2024, site-specific settings, and the American College Dance Association’s 2024 Northwest Conference.
Since graduating, Dawn has danced for the WNBA Connecticut Sun’s Shine Squad, attended Martha Graham, Pilobolus, and independent artist’s workshops, and is currently in a rehearsal process with Eliza Malecki. Additionally, she is teaching dance to disabled students aged 5-7 with Abilities Dance Boston and will be joining the leadership team of Boston Hustle Collective in the new year! His personal research centers around dance as a practice of love, the nature of movement/movement in nature, and the audience-performer relationship.
