Gayathri Thampatty is an accomplished classical dancer whose artistic journey spans several of India’s most revered classical dance traditions. Trained in multiple art forms like Mohiniyattam, Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, and Kathakali, she brings versatility to her craft.
She received her early training in Mohiniyattam from Guru Kalamandalam Sarojini and in Kathakali from Guru Kalamandalam Krishnakumar. She is currently pursuing advanced training in Mohiniyattam under the esteemed Guru Dr. Neena Prasad, whose guidance continues to refine her technique and artistic insight.
Gayathri has received numerous accolades, including the title “Kalathilakom,” an honor that translates to “the gifted woman of the arts.” She has performed on a wide range of stages, from classical platforms in India to cultural events across New England. She recently performed for Soudandhikam Center of Mohiniyattam at Tagore theatre In India. In the United states, Gayathri performed at the Bay Chamber Hammer hall as an invited artist for the Midcoast Ballet, Camden, Maine. In the US, she has also performed for different organizations like NEMA and AKMG.
Gayathri continues to nurture her artistic spirit with unwavering commitment. She is inspired by the fluidity, quiet strength, and inner radiance that Mohiniyattam embodies, qualities that continue to fuel her creative journey.
