Gracie Baruzzi began dancing at the age of 7 in Larchmont, New York. She went on to study Human Physiology and Dance at Boston University, where she trained under the direction of Micki Taylor-Pinney with Dance Theatre Group from 2008-2012. In 2013, Gracie founded Nozama Dance Collective alongside Natalie Schiera. Together, they acted as Artistic Directors, building a contemporary dance company focused on collaboration and portraying the raw, vulnerable experiences of women in today’s sociopolitical climate. Gracie also founded the “Empower One Another” festival, pairing companies to collaborate on entirely new works surrounding the themes of empowerment. She also developed a dance class program promoting healthy friendships and body image for the Big Sisters Association. Since passing on the title of Artistic Director of Nozama to Dana Alsamsam in 2020, Gracie has focused on her roles as a Pediatric Oncology Nurse at Boston Children’s Hospital, and as a mama to her tiny human. NACHMO 2024 will be her first independent performance in over 3 years.
