Thank you for joining us as we celebrate all of our NACHMO choreographers!
NACHMO Boston is one of Monkeyhouse’s Covid Collaborations, a series of programs aimed at creating opportunities and strengthening the local dance ecosystem. |
|
NACHMO Boston 2021 focused on building community, staying mentally and physically healthy, and developing alternative ways of creating and showing work.
This showing is free and open to the public, but we would like to ask you to consider making a donation to help us support our community.
This year our choreographers...
In exchange, each choreographer only pays a $20 participation fee.
Your donation will go towards paying our local mentors, who are also working artists who deserve to be fairly compensated for their time and expertise; paying the designers who led workshops in the last two weeks so we could keep those opportunities free for our choreographers and highly discounted for their dancers; and making sure that Brenna, Nicole, and Karen, the three people who make all of these opportunities happen, are also compensated for the time and energy they put into creating, organizing, and implementing NACHMO Boston. Finally, a donation will help us create a seed fund for next year’s NACHMO, allowing us to continue to provide these opportunities even when we return to live, in person performances.

This year our choreographers...
- received more than two hours of mentoring with at least four local choreographers...
- including participation in a small group conversation with other choreographers
- had the opportunity to partner with another choreographer for a month of peer-to-peer mentoring
- were invited to four community conversations about topics that help build a stronger dance community as part of Monkeyhouse’s Brown Bag Lunch series
- are able to show their work twice, here in this informal showing...
- and again at the Malden Dance Mile this spring
- were given free tickets to seven workshops with local designers to help them develop their skills to create a dance film
- were provided space to meet and connect with other members of the community twice a week for the entire month at the Mental Health Happy Hours
- will be able to attend Editing Power Hours during February to get real time help as they create their dance films
In exchange, each choreographer only pays a $20 participation fee.
