Nandita Srayoshi is a passionate and dedicated Bharatnatyam dancer from Bangladesh. She began training in Indian Classical dance at the Triveni School of Dance. After some years, her family moved back home to Bangladesh, putting her training on pause. Following a 20-year gap, she returned to Boston to resume her dance practice at the same institution and completed her Arangetram in 2022 under the guidance of Smt. Neena Gulati.
Since her Arangetram, she has performed in many dance productions with the Triveni Ensemble, including Prakriti, Anubhava, and Yatra. She has performed as a solo artist in Massachusetts for various events and organizations, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Dance for World Community, and Bollywood Night for the Mayor of Cambridge. She has also given a solo performance in Iowa called Rhythmic Steps: A Journey Through Bharatnatyam.
Nandita’s creative practice demonstrates that Bharatnatyam can be relevant to all, transcending religious and geographic boundaries similar to yoga. She envisions a world where everyone can experience the power of this art form regardless of race or religion. She believes Bharatnatyam is so vast that it can go in many directions, and she aims to explore them — including performing to Western-influenced music to reach a wider audience. She wants to create work that sends a message, sparks reflection, and reveals the depth of this art, ultimately bringing these elements to the stage and helping Bharatnatyam reach mainstream audiences.
