Nora Stephens (b. Dublin, Ireland - she/her/hers) is a dance artist and educator who moved to Cambridge, MA in 2021 after many years in Brooklyn, NY and abroad. Nora’s dance works have been presented mostly around NYC as well as internationally and most recently in the Boston area at Praise Shadows Gallery in Brookline and at the Dance Complex in Cambridge. Her most recent work uses the processing of her own personal trauma of living/leaving an emotionally abusive relationship in tandem with our society’s ongoing collective trauma around white supremacy, the covid-19 pandemic and patriarchy.
Dance as story. Dance as healing. Dance as process. Dance as change. Dance as revolution.
Collaboration with other artists is a key element to Nora's work. She is currently working with visual artist, Kate Holcombe Hale on a piece to be shown at the Danforth Museum at Framingham State University in October 2023. As a performer, Nora has worked with various choreographers including Kim Brandt, Emily Wexler, Deborah Hazler (Vienna) and currently with Lynn Modell. Nora is passionate about dance education and has been teaching movement and yoga to students of all ages for decades. She is currently the Theater Arts and Dance Specialist at Cambridge Montessori School, working with students from ages 2-14.
