Shira Weiss (they/them) is a multidisciplinary artist and educator dedicated to creating art at the intersection of queerness and Judaism. Originally from Orlando, FL, their backgrounds in both dance and theatre led them to Northeastern University, where they recently graduated with a degree in theatre. Their artistic credits include: co-choreographing and performing alongside Lila Ruth Klaus in NACHMO 2020 and 2022; choreographing and performing with No Limits Dance Crew; creating and codirecting an original, interview-based, digital interactive play, How to Survive a Pandemic, which won the Lux, Veritas, Virtus award at RISE; and assistant movement directing Northeastern University’s production of The Bacchae under the mentorship of Ilya Vidrin. Shira has also served as the Photography Arts Mentor at URJ 6 Points Creative Arts Academy, a summer program for grades 3-12 in the greater Philadelphia area. They have completed internships in Theatre Education at Gann Academy and Actors’ Shakespeare Project and are currently a Jewish Learning Guide at Temple Beth Shalom in Needham.
