simon montalvo

A white person is seen from the waist up, standing facing the camera with their arms by their sides. They're shirtless, showing top surgery scars, and they have long dark brown hair tucked behind their ears, an eyebrow piercing, and are looking at the camera with a soft smile.

My name is simon montalvo. I am a non-binary/transgender movement artist and choreographer born on the land of the Coahuiltican and Karankawan peoples, now known as South Texas. Over the past 6 years, I’ve been living on the land of the Pawtucket and Massachusett peoples, now referred to as Boston. Since graduating from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee in 2022, I've been focusing on somatic based and person-oriented movement practices. My creative approach is centered around healing, community, and growth; holding movement practice and healing as one interchangeable entity. I’m excited about the possibilities of using improv, mixed media, literature, research, and collaboration to create new works. My past works have explored experiences of the home, love, family and power structures, gender and sexuality, and joy. I view the creation of new works as a process based in community and collaboration, and am always looking to experiment with new people.
